Our Musical Journey
Founded by ledgendary bandmaster John M. Long in 2000, the Southeast Alabama Community Band is an important part of the music community in Troy. Musicians from across Alabama and the Florida panhandle travel to Troy each week from January through May to rehearse with an outstanding group of musicians, some of whom have been playing music for more than 70 years. From high school students to retirees, these musicians play a mix of classical, jazz, Broadway, and more. From Gershwin to Sousa, this band puts on a show!

Are you passionate about music and eager to perform with a talented group of musicians? The Southeast Alabama Community Band welcomes musicians of all skill levels to join our vibrant ensemble. We hold auditions twice a year to ensure that we maintain a balanced and harmonious sound. Prospective members should have a basic proficiency in their chosen instrument and a commitment to attend weekly rehearsals. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or returning to music after a break, we invite you to become part of our musical family.
To apply, simply fill out our online application form and prepare a short audition piece that showcases your abilities. Our auditions are friendly and supportive, designed to help you feel comfortable and confident. Once you become a member, you’ll have the opportunity to perform in a variety of concerts and community events throughout the year. Join us in creating beautiful music and lasting friendships!
